My Observations
Date: February 6, 2024 @ 13:00
Area: Brenda Mines Road, Aspen Grove Road, just past the turn for Silver Lake., 5km in/out.
It appears that Aspen Grove Road was widened and plowed to accommodate the recent activity. Where you see my track leave Aspen Road is a new road to access the huge logging landing site. You can see a couple of creeks on either side of the new road/landing. These drain into Peachland Creek.
Temperature: -1
Weather: Surrounding fog, high overcast with light intermittent snow
Accumulation: 3 ½” dense snow accumulation from start of this cycle
Wind: Calm
Visibility: Good
Conditions: 3 ½” wet snow, more dense than yesterday. It felt warmer up at this elevation
Observations: Nothing to see here………(not even the forest)
Again, today wasn’t about the skiing so much as gathering information/evidence, investigating why the road named Aspen Grove (on the left side of Brenda Mines Road, just past Silver Lake Road was plowed open at the end of January. My curiosity got the better of me so we went for a hike (yesterday’s ski wasn’t too enjoyable…)
So disappointed once again. I was hoping that this adventure would amount to much, but i was so sad to see the devastation
Rating: Depressing
At the top of the above picture, the greenery is misleading. I wonder how naked and bare a new satellite image would look now with a re-take? In the previous picture you will also note an old cut block below Aspen Grove Road and on the other side of Brenda Mines Road.
