Interior Forest Task-force Update

November 12, 2023 by Denise

As one of the founding members of the IWTF (read more here) PWPA is currently supporting letters, petitions and reports to all MLAs and decision makers.

Drought was on all our minds this past year.  As you are all aware, summer of 2023 has given way to rain, colder weather, and even snow in places. But B.C. is not yet out of the woods from the record drought.

Wildfires continue to burn, many communities face fall drought conditions and, in some, emergency water restrictions are still in place.

As of November 9, eight BC water basins remain at drought level 3 (severely dry), another six are at drought level 4 (extremely dry), and three are at drought level 5 (exceptionally dry). This ongoing drought and continuing water shortages are two reasons why PWPA, IWTF and partner, Code Blue BC supports the creation of π₯𝐨𝐜𝐚π₯ 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐑𝐞𝐝 π›π¨πšπ«ππ¬ in communities across the province.

Find out more at our partner, Code Blue news blog:

Here is our recent letter to local MLA on the interior drought situation.
