Fall Forest Re-planting Event

September 22, 2020 by PWPA

Restoring native plants to Peachland’s watershed, Saturday, October 3

Due to an ongoing emphasis on commercial forestry over other values, the natural forests of the Okanagan are being replaced with timber crops.

Food and medicinal plants for humans and wildlife — including plants critical for Indigenous people — are disappearing. PWPA’s ecological restoration project aims to restore edible native plants to Peachland’s logged watershed.

A small team of 7 from PWPA met Saturday, October 3 in the watershed, to plant native trees, berries. and shrubs in a clear-cut above Peachland.
