Observations:
It has been a while since I have been up this way. The snow was wet and heavy, surprisingly not sticky. Easy climbing on the way up, also realising that it’s going to be a bit spicy for me on the way down with the skinny skis. I have hiked up here in the summer but found that anything off the old logging road was hard going due to the left over logging debris. Guess what, there were a few cut blocks over here. At one time. It doesn’t look like there was any replanting done. There is quite the variety of deciduous trees, fir trees, pines trees, even larch and lots of small to medium sized shrubbery. All of this in various stages of growth. Moose appear to favour this area, and saw lots of old tracks along with the rabbits. Higher up there were some old coyote and/or cat tracks, but they were too old to really tell. I have seen both tracks up here in the summer though.
Higher up I did find fresh moose and rabbit tracks! Then I found a fresh Moose-nest, and near the top of the cut block…I found a not-so-happy moose….
