B’s Watershed Watch Update April 2, 2024

April 5, 2024 by Barb H

Barb Haley, Watershed Watch Chair

My Observations

Date: April 02, 2024 @09:00 am

Area: Part-way up Bolivar Rd (off Peachland FSR), an old 4×4 road, 4km

Temperature: 10C

Weather: High overcast and sun

Visibility: Excellent

Conditions: dry, dry, dry

Observations: No real plans today, just drove out to Glen Lake to check on the situation over there and also on the mysterious new logging area – which I am calling Bolivar South. They appear to be working full-tilt over in the Glen Lake area, rehab work from the fire, but the road to the Bolivar South logging is quiet, for now, with the boulders still blocking the road.  On the way up the Peachland FSR, I saw 2 fully loaded logging trucks, 2 of many more to come I am sure.

Lovely hike, nothing fancy, but there are some beautiful mature trees here and also some deciduous stands as well.

The only turn-off today was that it sounded like a major construction site on the other side of the valley, it kind of drowned out the sounds of all the birds….

Rating: Excellent
