Brenda Mines/ Renewables Biosolids Composting Site Tour

December 7, 2021 by PWPA

Advocacy: Brenda Renewables and Mine Tour

PWPA members had the opportunity to tour the old Brenda Mine site, and prospective location of a new biosolids composting facility, which will me operated by Brenda renewables Inc. (BRI). We were hosted by reps from Glencore (owners of Brenda Mines) and two reps from BRI. The offer of a tour was very popular and we had to divide the PWPA group into two separate tours,

The mine site tour has been something PWPA has wanted to do for quite a while but COVID came along and sidelined us till now. It was a very informative morning, and quite fascinating to see what remains of the mine and it\’s infrastructure, including the \”pit\” from which the copper ore was taken.

For security reasons no photos were allowed on the mine property, however we did get a couple of great shots of the PWPA and Brenda teams in the parking lot.

BRI also hosted the District of Peachland, and the District\’s Healthy Watershed Committee on tours as well.

PWPA appreciates the opportunity to tour this site and thanks Glencore and Brenda renewables for their time and detailed explanations of the proposed composting facility.
