My Observations

Date: February 29, 2024 @0930am

Area: Upper Moose Poop – 5km round trip

Temperature: -4C

Weather: Sunny and high broken clouds

Visibility: Excellent

Conditions: Approximately 8” of fresh, light, fluffy beautiful snow!

Observations:

I haven’t been out here since last season, so naturally I ended up not where I was supposed to be. I started out on what the local boys named “Upper Moose Poop” trail which evidently, somehow connects to the original Moose Poop Trail lower down (haven’t tried it … yet). With the fresh snow I ended up in some cut-block (what a surprise), not on the trail I was hoping to be on, but in the general vicinity. So I made a game of getting back to the car by trying to stay in the trees and not cross a cut block. So I got to hang out with lots of gorgeous, mature trees of all flavors!

The new snow was surprisingly slow and got a bit more squishy and sticky in areas that saw some of the sun this morning. A delightful ski and a wonderful way to start the day!

Rating: Excellent
