PWPA members Alex Morrison and Taryn Skalbania participated in the first look tour of the new commercial composting plant on the Brenda Mines property in Peachland,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This first look was impressive. While we still have few actual details what we saw was encouraging and the presentation by Brenda Renewables staff hit all the right points regarding Peachland’s drinking water source protection, odour control and even the biosolids component. This amount seems to be reduced compared to the original presentations of 2 years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In an interesting twist, the BR team along with Mic Werstiuk CEO of Ntityix Development Corp, announced that Westbank First Nation, through the development company, has partnered with BR, in a ground-breaking agreement to work together on WFN lands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And in a positive for Peachland, BR may be including kitchen waste in its compost feed-stock and collection in Peachland may be a possibility. We will publish more details once we get them. Brenda Renewables has been scheduled twice to speak before Peachland Council but has cancelled both times. So we are ALL waiting to hear their updates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
