{"id":3228,"date":"2023-03-12T11:39:20","date_gmt":"2023-03-12T18:39:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peachlandwpa.org\/?p=3228"},"modified":"2023-11-21T14:00:54","modified_gmt":"2023-11-21T22:00:54","slug":"well-deserved-recognition-for-val-macgillivay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peachlandwpa.org\/well-deserved-recognition-for-val-macgillivay\/","title":{"rendered":"Well Deserved Recognition for Val MacGillivay"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>by Judy Wyper, PWPA Director<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Valerie MacGillivray, one of our long time Board members, as well as a longstanding Board<br>member of the 50 Plus Activity Centre, received a 15 Years of Service award during the<br>Peachland Volunteer Awards Event in May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"756\" height=\"1008\" src=\"https:\/\/peachlandwpa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/image-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3229\" srcset=\"https:\/\/peachlandwpa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/image-2-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/peachlandwpa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/image-2.jpg 756w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 756px) 100vw, 756px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>She exemplifies the volunteer spirit that lives and thrives in Peachland. She is involved in<br>numerous community organizations and can always be found, not just seated at a board of<br>directors table, but in the kitchen of the Community Centre, the Little School House, the 50+<br>Centre and even at camp stoves in a forest, preparing the food for a variety of events throughout<br>the year. She shines as a successful concert promoter, event decorator, canteen purveyor, tree<br>planter, poster hanger and word of mouth organization promoter. After the Peachland Hospital<br>Auxiliary folded, Valerie and her team provided meals for various community groups raising<br>$10,000 in 2022. She is an invaluable gift to this town!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She has developed a reputation as a willing and tireless worker. Valerie is recognized by many<br>citizens of Peachland because she is often the first person to arrive for an event, ensuring that<br>facility is open and ready to receive the participants and the last to leave when all the dishes are<br>clean and put away in their proper places. No task is too lofty nor low for her to tackle.<br>Best of all Val can be counted on to do what she says she is going to do, a valuable attribute for<br>any volunteer for any organization.
