Peachland\’s Forest March BC

September 18, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

This March is part of the People\’s Summit for Forestry Reform – a five-day online conference this week organized by concerned citizens to address the lack of control that local municipalities have regarding the uses of their forests and watersheds. The Summit will bring people together from across British Columbia to build a new forest framework that respects nature and gives power back to communities. The online forestry forum (Sept. 12-17) culminates on Friday September 18th in Forest Marches that will take place across BC in impacted communities. Members of the Peachand Watershed Protection Alliance are joining with these other groups and have organized a local walk in solidarity to support this new province wide initiative. This is a COVID compliant event with physical distancing enforced. Disposable masks will be provided and hand sanitizer will be available.
The March begins at noon at the Peachland Visitors Centre and proceeds to the Rotary Pavilion at Heritage Park. Westbank First Nation performers and speakers will be participating, along with local Peachland residents, who will share their stories and connections to the forest and watershed.
