Whether you’re a current member, past member, future member, Peachland resident, or just interested about Peachland’s water situation, come join us at our 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Enjoy opening remarks by Cori Derrickson, Westbank First Nation; a quick slide presentation from volunteer Barb, the head of our Watershed Watch Program, along with updates on the watershed governance project from our presenter Rheanne Korchinsky from UBCO, along with special guests.
All across BC and throughout our Peachland watershed, we’re grappling with an industry and a government that is pushing hard for drastically increased salvage logging in the wake of natural disturbances like wildfire and insect outbreaks.
They believe saving a burnt tree for the mill is worth losing biodiversity, habitat for wildlife, increased mudslides, extreme droughts, massive floods and increased carbon emissions.
The definition of salvage is ‘to rescue’. Does this look rescued to you? Our watershed, the source of our drinking water, needs our help.
We also elect new board members. If you are interested in joining our Board to help advance watershed awareness in our community, and to advocate for water security in Peachland, we can use your skills. Let’s talk! You can find us at peachlandwpa@gmail.com.
As always, we’ll have baking and refreshments on hand. Bring a friend, and win a prize!
Watch your inbox for more AGM info as we confirm speakers, prizes and activities.
