Because it\’s Earth Day, PWPA is foregoing a regular members\’ meeting for this week and instead is provide the full 1.5 hours to host a special stand-alone event to mark Earth Day.
Into the second year of a unique pandemic, which most of us have no previous experience with, our only stress-free option for escape has been to get outside. Many in BC took to the back country with it\’s fabulous scenery, wildlife, and promise of healthy recreation and fitness! However this has make many consider the wilderness in a way they never would have had it not been for the pandemic. More people enjoying the great outdoors has raised more awareness, anger, and frustrations when folks experience the ongoing industrial devastation of natural areas. Peachland\’s watershed is also taking a hit from industry, from logging to mining, to cattle ranging, and more. On this Earth Day 2021, our online event featuring ecologist and registered professional forester, Herb Hammond, will provide some insight into what is happening in our backyard and actions for taking back our watershed to restore it and keep it healthy.
