My Observations
Date: November 21, 2025 @1600
Area: Brenda Mines Road, base of Wilson Mountain above Silver Lake
Temperature: +7C
Weather: Overcast/Foggy
Wind: Calm
Visibility: Extremely poor
Conditions: Very Foggy
Observations: I never decide where I am going until I get there. I travel along the Brenda mines Road quite frequently, at least within the last 2 weeks. But I have not noticed any logging activity up there until today.
The give away was the muddy tire tracks from the side road onto the paved surface …..and the large Stop sign jammed into the dirt.
I figured that I better check this out, waht I found made me feel ill.
I could not find evidence of whose operation is up here, but I do know that it was flagged out on October 8th of this year, so they (who ever they are) wasted no time. I lost count of how many piles of logs spread out in this area, but there was 5 machines that I found.
Logs harvested were big, beautiful Douglas Fir Trees and Lodge Pole Pines. I am worried that one of my favorite Firs is no longer standing. Hard to tell because it looks so different from before, roads are here where there weren’t any before, and plus it was very foggy.

Not much left in this area that has not been logged at some point. I guess they will stop when there are no more trees to cut down….then the water will follow…

This story is sounding familiar, maybe I should leave a copy of “The Lorax” at the Ministry of Forests Offce in Vernon….
