B’s Watershed Watch Update July 03, 2024

July 3, 2024 by Barb H

Barb Haley, Watershed Watch Chair

Date: July 03, 2024 @10:00 am

Area: Buchanan Road and the Hwy

Temperature: 32C

Weather: Gorgeous

Visibility: Wonderful

Conditions: Really Hot

Observations: There is a long story that goes with this, but I will leave that for another day.

A few nights ago you may recall that we had a long spell without power here in P’land. That was because of one of our new Ospreys was trying to build his new home on the power pole at the corner of Buchanan Road and the Hwy. I suspect this Opsrey is one of the off-spring fromthe Todd Family nest a bit south of this location. I have been in contact with BC Hydro, who oversees these nesting platforms, and was told that they were aware of the nesting site and they were in the process of coordinating resources to stand up a new platform for this Opsrey to build on. Then his nest burned the power pole down.

So now we have a new power pole, power restored and a brand new nesting platform for the new neighors, The Buchanan Family!

A new house warming for the Buchanan Osprey Family!
