B’s Watershed Watch Update January 14, 2026

January 14, 2026 by Barb H

Barb Haley, Watershed Watch Chair

My Observations

Date: January 14, 2026 @ 0900

Area: Brand Mines Road, base of Wilson Mountain above Silver Lake

Temperature: +5C

Weather: Mostly sunny

Wind: Calm

Visibility: Excellent

Conditions: Spring-like

Observations: Well this started on Oct 8, 2025, when this place was flagged for logging. Still figuring out who “they” are, but no time was wasted. You saw my earlier post back in November (21st) where everything was already cut down and left in giant piles, waiting for pick up.

Now all the equipment is gone, as are all the beautiful old Douglas Fir trees (through some research I found that some of these trees were over 100 years old).

This site is directly above Silver Lake and adjacent to Mile Creek which, I believe, drains eventually into Peachland Creek.

This area in general has been heavily logged in the past…..
