Area: Wilson Lake area old cut blocks
Temperature: -7C
Weather: Clear
Wind: Calm
Visibility: Good
Conditions: Excellent
Observations: I wonder where these old ski tracks go?
You can start in the same place, at Wilson Lakes, but there are so many options. It’s like a “Choose your own adventure ski”!
Despite having a dump of new snow with our cold weather blast, the amount hasn’t really contributed to the overall snow pack at this point. We need plenty more!
Seeing that we were very nearby our reservoir, Peachlnad Lake, I thought I’d mention a little tidbit I read in the Peachlnad Municipal Newsletter:
“Grants to Help Plan for Peachland’s Resilience. The District of Peachland has secured funding to prepare plans that will address climate change impacts and protect our infrastructure in the future.”
The article goes on to speak about 2 major Capital Plan Projects supported by the Province of BC:
“150,000 from the Community Emergency Preparedness Fund will support the Peachland Lake Dam and Glen Lake Dam Risk Analysis. Due to ongoing climate change impacts and increased development, an analysis is needed of the resiliency of both dams.” (click on link for more info)
“$25,000 from the Asset Management Planning Program will support an update to the District’s Asset Management Plan (completed in 2011) to forecast the costs and timing of asset renewal and replacement, and to conduct an analysis of risks to infrastructure due to climate change.”
We like our analysis’ don’t we?
I am curious, will the risk analysis address our watershed issues? The logging and forest fire issues?
Great if we have resilient dams on both lakes, but we need water to get there first.
