B’s Watershed Watch Update December 17, 2024

December 17, 2024 by Barb H

Barb Haley, Watershed Watch Chair

My Observations

Date: December 17, 2024 @0900am

Area: Bolivar South Part 2

Temperature: 0C

Weather: Overcast

Visibility: Good

Conditions: Excellent, except for the lousy view

Observations: Still fresh snow!

I’ll let the pictures tell my story.

The 3rd Bolivar (South part 2) road from the Princeton FSR. Also showing the road going to Glen Lake (the hairpin where the new loggin operation is happening)
Summer home closed for the season
Mangled culvert left behind
I found this recently logged spot this fall when I was checking on what was left of the Bolivar South operation. I heard machines and followed the sound to this operation, I call Bolivar South Part 2.
Miss Willie!
Willie!
I didn’t get too close last Fall as they were actively logging, today seemed like a good day to see what they did. As expected, huge piles of “waste” wood…Wilson looks so small.
Panorama of the devastation…
HUGE piles. In the backround, on the other side of Bolivar Creek, is the other logging operation i found, Bolivar South. They did even more logging there before they packed it up.
Another panorama of what was left behind…
In the right corner, in the distance, you can see the Glen lake Fire Mitigation area…
Yuck! Doggos make the scenery nicer don’t they?
Smart-ass doggos, just wait until next spring when the bike comes out!!
Back to check on the logging past the hairpin to Glen Lake. Very busy this week, lots of logs leaving…
