B’s Watershed Watch Update December 15, 2024

December 15, 2024 by Barb H

Barb Haley, Watershed Watch Chair

My Observations

Date: December 10, 2024 @0900am

Area: Glen Lake/Findlay Creek, Post Fire “Mitigation” area

Temperature: +2C

Weather: Clear

Visibility: Perfect

Conditions: Perfect!

Observations: Approximately 4″ of fresh snow!

Today we went back up to the Glen Lake/Findlay Creek fire area. There is a road I have not yet seen, so we checked it out. This turn branches towards Findaly Creek. There is another turn off this road, but the going looked like it was more effort. I’ll come back with skiis!

The view from up here is amazing, save for the spoiled parts of ravaged forest, by fire but mostly logging.

Checking out what the loggers left behind at the bottom of the Glen Lake Post Fire “Mitigation”, aka pillaging right above Greata Creek (part of our watershed)
Top of Findlay Creek Road, overlooking the “mitigation” on the opposite hillside…..
Ahhhhh that’s better!!
This pic is the sum of my life!! <3
On the way back home I thought I’d check out the new logging operation which is happening right now, on the road to Glen Lake, right after the hairpin/creek crossing. It doesn’t look like much when you drive by, …..until you drive up and see the devastation!
This is only a small part of what I could see.
