BC Green’s concerned about watershed governance

November 1, 2019 by PWPA

In August, MLA Adam Olsen included a stop in Peachland as part of his Okanagan Valley tour to learn more about the impact of resource harvesting on our water quality. PWPA hosted a long-table lunch with representatives from Summerland and Peachland. Olsen is the Green\’s spokesperson for Forests, Lands, Natural Resources and Rural Development, among other roles. In his most recent blog he expresses concerns about the insufficient laws governing watersheds and activities in water sensitive areas, and specifically cites the $24 million that Peachland now has to pay for a water treatment plant and whether this would have been necessary had \”the provincial government not been so myopic in its view of forests . . .”.
