Valerie MacGillivray, one of our long time Board members, as well as a longstanding Board
member of the 50 Plus Activity Centre, received a 15 Years of Service award during the
Peachland Volunteer Awards Event in May.

She exemplifies the volunteer spirit that lives and thrives in Peachland. She is involved in
numerous community organizations and can always be found, not just seated at a board of
directors table, but in the kitchen of the Community Centre, the Little School House, the 50+
Centre and even at camp stoves in a forest, preparing the food for a variety of events throughout
the year. She shines as a successful concert promoter, event decorator, canteen purveyor, tree
planter, poster hanger and word of mouth organization promoter. After the Peachland Hospital
Auxiliary folded, Valerie and her team provided meals for various community groups raising
$10,000 in 2022. She is an invaluable gift to this town!

She has developed a reputation as a willing and tireless worker. Valerie is recognized by many
citizens of Peachland because she is often the first person to arrive for an event, ensuring that
facility is open and ready to receive the participants and the last to leave when all the dishes are
clean and put away in their proper places. No task is too lofty nor low for her to tackle.
Best of all Val can be counted on to do what she says she is going to do, a valuable attribute for
any volunteer for any organization. She is definitely a volunteer of heroic standing in Peachland
and richly deserves this honour and award.
